About the event
Querubim Lapa (1925-2016) was one of the foremost creators of contemporary Portuguese tiles. To celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday, the National Azulejo Museum is presenting, until July 27th, the temporary exhibition A kitchen at the museum. On Querubim Lapa’s centennial.
Apart from the recreation of the tile coating he designed in 1988/1989 for the kitchen of a flat located on Correeiros Street, in downtown Lisbon, the exhibition includes preparatory studies and drawings, as well as a scale model and video interviews with the ceramist Suzana Barros, wife of Querubim Lapa, and his son, the art historian Pedro Lapa, revealing the master’s working method and the daily experiences in this and other kitchens designed by him.
